We often harshly judge the second version of something: the movie that comes out after a good book, a son that follows his father in business, or a musician that covers a famous song. There is so much more joy in life found in judging something on its own merit instead of using comparative analysis to judge everything. When we put one performance up against another instead of simply enjoying the performance in front of us, we rob ourselves of enjoying the present moment. And we rob the performer of the applause they may rightly deserve. Listen to today’s song of the day and try hard to not compare it to the original – just enjoy it for what it is, I think you will find joy in it.
